Nathalie meets with change makers at the University Of British Columbia.
The brains of the operation! Thank you to @ubcprez , Santa Ono, for connecting me to the experts in their fields at #UBC and advising me on the complex issues of making positive change re the palm oil crisis. L to R : Professors Rickey Yada, Daniel Weary, and Alejandro Marangoni - specialists in food systems, animal welfare and food science, helping me and YOU avoid all products containing #palmoil and finding a way forward before the rainforests and wildlife of Indonesia are gone. |
Nathalie's Fundraising Christmas Tour
Nat is getting set to travel to beautiful Borneo on a fundraising tour with POI's Lorinda Jane on 23rd December 2018.
We will be cruising the Sekonyer River, seeing the orangutans in the wild and other wildlife during this tour. We will also be visiting an oil palm plantation and discuss the issues with its production.
Nat and the team of wonderful people who are coming along on the tour are raising vital funds for The Orangutan Project. The team target is $10,000. All donations would be greatly appreciated no matter how small. Link to the fundraising campaign is here www.justgiving.com/fundraising/poi-christmas-tour

A beautiful surprise arrives for Nat
Huge thanks to @jasonsavagephoto for this beautiful photo and letter that brought tears to my eyes. More than half the orangutan population has been killed thanks to companies who destroy their habitat with palm oil plantations. I'll be leaving the concrete jungle and going to the indigenous rainforests of Borneo to raise awareness of the plight of my fellow #redheads and the local people who are exploited. |
Nathalie - Bites the Bullet
Nat 'Bites the Bullet' and says, "Don't buy palm oil...we can and will, do better.....Working in wildlife conservation has taught me that caring for the greater good can bring great joy and meaning into your life. Everything we do is interconnected. If we mistreat the natural world, we mistreat ourselves. It's not us and them. It is only us. All of us. There is great anxiety and depression amongst people, because they feel disconnected. Lost. By getting reconnected with nature, we find love, purpose and peace. And I have complete faith that we have the ability to change. Because, as you know, change is inevitable. It is the only constant. So speak up! The choices you make every day ARE YOUR VOICE. Share the information: Please read ingredients and don't buy palm oil. It's not supporting a better world. And we can, and will, do better.
