Palm Oil Investigations committee
Lorinda Jane - President
Lorinda Jane founded POI in March 2013 , after seeing a distressing image of a suffering orangutan that was circulating on social media. Learning that the orangutan subsequently died and was linked to palm oil, she created Palm Oil Investigations, which has since become the world's largest palm oil consumer activist movement, with over 200, 000 members on Facebook worldwide.
Lorinda's skills are in community engagement, consumer research and behaviour, PR & publicity, event & venue management, retail marketing, and social media strategies & marketing. With a long and highly regarded history in the Australian music and entertainment industry, she has an excellent understanding of Australian consumers and the drivers and triggers for their behaviour.
She has always thought outside of the box, and took on a different approach to the palm oil crisis by using her skill set to engage a powerful, connected and caring audience that has become a powerhouse of consumer activism and support.
New to the world of conservation NGO's, Lorinda has faced many challenges and learning curves along the way and continues to lead the organisation and team as founder and President.
